By the end of this course participants will be able to:
- Recognize cultural norms, rhetorical patterns, and common language templates used in English language academic writing and begin applying these standards in their own writing
- Demonstrate increased awareness of audience expectations related to text organization, cohesion, and register
- Apply academic integrity concepts by appropriately quoting, paraphrasing, summarizing, and citing sources according to citation standards
- Discuss issues related to presenting research in English
- Become aware of language standards used in English language academic writing for research
- Appropriately quote, paraphrase, summarize, and cite sources
- Revise their own work using peer and professor feedback
- Develop strategies to proofread and edit their own work
- Develop a final draft of the research paper based on original research
- Evaluate journal requirements for publishing their research
